This week SolarCity announced its expansion into the Greater Houston area, on the footsteps of its relaunched solar loan program, which was announced earlier this month.

SolarCity offers customers the opportunity to go solar for as little as $40 a month with its new loan program, and qualified customers can also receive a Nest Learning Thermostat. The company hopes to hire between 50 and 100 local Houston residents and is partnering with M2P Energy, a local electricity provider, to give residents access to net metering benefits.

SolarCity installed 870 MW of solar in 2015, up 73% from its 2014 figures, solidifying its position as the leading solar installer in the US.
