In a significant move for lighting profession certification, the United States General Services Administration (GSA) has recognized the lighting certification program of the National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions (NCQLP).
Going forward, the criteria of the lighting certified practitioner will be included on all lighting projects for public buildings, validating the existing LC certification established and offered by the NCQLP since 1997.
Listed in the ‘Facilities Standards for Public Buildings Service,’ section 6.8 Interior Lighting, Day Lighting, and Control Systems, page 189, the criteria reads:
Qualifications of the Lighting Designer
Lighting design shall be performed or supervised by a practitioner credentialed as Lighting Certified (LC) by the National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions (NCQLP).
