The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) reported that the Electroindustry Business Conditions Index (ECBI), a broad category that focuses on North American electrical industry manufacturers, slipped again in June, marking the fourth month of decline. June’s index value was 47.2, down from 50 in May and 52.2 in April. This means that a higher proportion of panelists, senior managers at NEMA member companies, indicated that business conditions deteriorated in June than reported that they improved.
The future for the electrical industry looks a little brighter. The ECBI for future business conditions signaled a modest advance. Thirty-nine percent of the panelists predict business to improve over the next six months, while 33% expect it to decline.
