How Well Do You Know the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code?

1 MIN READ

Although we’re barely into 2014, the 2015 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) is on its way. Many states, however, may find themselves unprepared in about a year: Our sister brand, Builder, reports that as of last October, only six of the 50 U.S. states had implemented the 2012 IECC statewide.(Check your state’s status here.) This is a big deal because the 2012 iteration took a bit step forward in terms of stringency, making it 15 percent more efficient than the 2009 version and 30 percent more stringent than the 2006 version.

How well do you know the 2012 IECC? Builder’s got a brain buster of a quiz on the topic, which you can take by clicking here. Experts and novices alike will benefit: The quiz not only gives you the correct answers, but adds explanation to each one to increase your understanding of the current code. What’s more, to help get you started, we’ve secretly given you an answer to one of the questions in this blog post.
