Three studies conducted by professors at Cornell University show that hotels can save significant money by going green. While one of the three studies found that people are not willing to pay more for a hotel that is considered green or eco-friendly, hotels that do make the decision to do so save on energy costs and utility bills.

Some common ways hotels go green include installing high efficiency air conditioners and landscape that is drought tolerant.
Eco-friendly hotels will commonly encourage guests to reuse towels or forego housekeeping for one or more nights of their stay.
