Builder’s Choice and Custom Home Awards Finalist
The goal that the clients had for their property was to have it fit in with the unique character of their neighborhood, minimize the apparent scale of the house and be warm and inviting.
The challenge was to fit a 6 bedroom home, office, meeting spaces, an indoor 25 meter lap pool and a gallery on a 2-1/2 acre lot. The needs of the office drove the design of the barn; however they were concerned about the visual impact of a large house and a barn on the property.
The Architects overcame this challenge by situating the house in the middle of the property, close to one side and near the highest point in the property. This allowed the natural changes in grade to be integrated into the house in a natural and unassuming manner.
