Project Description
Located in the heart of Downtown Maitland, Florida, Metro Square is a new 300-unit mixed use development which includes 17,000 square feet of commercial space and a wrapped garage with 576 spaces, plus 93 grade parking, for a total of 669 spaces. The retail component of the project, featuring restaurants, shops and galleries sets the base and acts as the architectural cornerstone for the development. The coastal architectural design features clean lines, large glass openings under colorful fabric awnings and colonnades. Directly above the retail, a large open terrace where residents can sit outside under plantings and umbrellas, giving a thoughtful expression of place-making in the midst of bustling activity. ACi feels fortunate to celebrate 18 years of a successful city architectural consulting relationship with the City of Maitland. This helped the owner, architect and community successfully create a unique destination experience for downtown Maitland. The City’s approval process emphasizes great principles of city planning, urban design, zoning requirements and community engagement. Through this thoughtful approach, the architecture addresses the site’s unique “main street” highway frontage and 360-degree “island” configuration.
