Project Description

MicroPAD by Panoramic Interest is a prototype for CITYSPACES supportive housing project to combat homelessness in San Francisco. The 160 square-foot self-contained residential pod features a private bathroom, living area, and kitchen. The unit is stackable—capable of amounting to a 12 storey building. Falling under the category for Group Housing/Congregate Residence, the unit is permitted in all zoning districts.

The frame of the pod is constructed with steel. This ensures reduce noise from outside, the prevention of pests, 24/7 fresh air ventilation, and a secondary drain to prevent plumbing issues.

The pod is manufactured in the U.S., Europe, and Asia then assembled and built on-site in eight months. Because the pods are high-quality, permanent housing, there is a high cost for moving the pods after it is built.

Funded by Panoramic Interests, the pods are leased to the city or county who can select the residents.
