Project Description

A house reflects the way of life

The client has drawn a life where children can run, family communicates each other and communicates with their neighbors, but there are clear limits of the apartments. The most characteristic feature of a book house resembling a book is the bookcase where all books on the bench can be stacked. It had always been the client's dream to have a house full of books on the one side of the wall. The living room have turned into a study room, and the bookshelves was made on the entire wall with a high floor. The window between the bookshelves was created to relieve the tightness of the walls and the front of the bookshelves became a center of communication where the whole family can gather and spend time. The kitchen is placed facing the bookshelf so that it can communicate with the family in the living room at any time. After closing the sliding door installed in the kitchen, the living room becomes a space like a cafe and becomes a guest room for the neighbors as well as the family. The book house has lots of spaces to read like a book, as ‘The bookcase of the wisdom’, built by using the 9m ceiling height that can be seen at the entrance, ‘Balcony of Romeo and Juliet’, connects between the brother and sister’s rooms on the second floor and ‘Bridge of the never ending story’, which is the nickname of the staircase that looks like leading to the sky. These spaces gathered to make the house that open inside and outside, top and bottom unimpededly and coexist.
