Builder’s Choice and Custom Home Awards Finalist
This project involved re-working the existing interior layout to create an open cooking space that took advantage of the views from the walls to the windows. We were faced with several design challenges, though the space allowed for floor plan changes.
– The space allowed us to expand the peninsula area, providing a larger work area and an excellent conversation area for the three family members.
– We maximized our tall storage and minimized our use of wall cabinets.
– We improved the poor lighting design.
– Ovens were placed side by side for best access.
– In order to allow for electrical receptacles, we used custom angled power strips as the back splash in this area, fitting perfectly between the window and counter top.
– To create contrast, we used a 30” stainless steel tambour cabinet to hide small appliances. Stainless flip up glass doors below the wall cabinets tied these elements together.
– The white Quartz counters with the wide wrapped edge brightened up the whole design.
– We decided to keep the existing tile flooring and planned the materials to stay true to the Bauhaus style of the architecture.
