Project Description
FD|A was tasked with reworking a relatively small existing master suite to include closets and a bathroom in addition to the bedroom proper. The existing space was a beamed and vaulted mid-century ranch. FD|A took an approach that treated the volume and detail of the space as a given and inserted the bath as a contemporary piece of furniture or object. From the bedroom, concealed doors hide the closet. One enters the bath and bedroom from the space between the object and the wall. Within this space are a powder room and vanity. The shower then occupies the last void between the object and the outside wall.
