Exhibit: “Brasilia,” 1500 Gallery

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Brazil’s built-from-scratch capital, Brasilia, New York’s 1500 Gallery, which specializes in Brazilian photography, has mounted a small exhibit of vintage photographs curated by Murillo Meirelles. Brasilia includes Gervasio Batista’s photo of construction workers and other images showing the planning and building of the city. Devotees of Oscar Niemeyerwho was the principal architect for the projectwon’t be disappointed: there are photos of his National Congress and presidential palace.
