Type S and Type NB steel and aluminum roof hatches from the Bilco Co. are designed to conform to high-velocity hurricane zone standards. The hatches, which have been certified by Miami-Dade County’s Building Code Compliance Office, have fully welded corners on both the curb and cover with heavy-duty slam latches to ensure the covers stay closed in extreme weather conditions. The Type S roof hatch (shown), available in galvanized steel or aluminum, measures 36″ by 30″. Type NB, which comes in galvanized steel, aluminum, or stainless steel, is 30″ by 54″.
