On Oct. 9, the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) in Los Angeles will host an awards celebration for the winners of the Los Angeles Cleantech Corridor and Green District Competition, co-sponsored by SCI-Arc and The Architects’ Newspaper.

The open ideas competition asked professional and student architects, designers, engineers, and others to create an innovative and integrated urban vision—one that moves beyond industrial uses—for the Los Angeles Cleantech Corridor, a several-mile-long development zone established along the downtown area’s eastern edge. Sixteen projects will be selected from among the 70 entries for awards and more than $11,000 in prize money. The event at SCI-Arc—which is open to the public—will take place in the W.M. Keck Lecture Hall and includes a jury discussion, awards ceremony, and the opening of an exhibition in the Library Gallery featuring the winning projects. The exhibition will continue through Oct. 27.

The Los Angeles Cleantech Corridor and Green District Competition is presented by a partnership between the Office of the Mayor of Los Angeles and the city’s Community Redevelopment Agency, which established the Cleantech Corridor.
