Company Accepts Green Award

1 MIN READ

Sloan Valve Co. has accepted the 2007 Green Power Leadership Award from the Washington, D.C.-based U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for its green power purchase. The company offsets 100 percent of the energy used in its Franklin Park, Ill., facility with renewable energy. Sloan Valve’s purchase of 20 million kilowatt-hours of green power furthers its commitment to green building; the company develops sustainable plumbing products and technologies. “Our purchase of Renewable Energy Credits is a very important and valid part of our corporate mission toward sustainability, but it isn’t the only thing we do.” says Jim Allen, LEED AP, manager of Sloan Valve’s Water-efficiency Division. “For example, we are dramatically reducing the energy we consume to light our facility. Our reductions will have a meaningful effect on our CO2 [carbon dioxide] emissions and reduce our carbon footprint.”
