Project Description
Hord Coplan Macht is working with this 1260-student PK-12 day school located within an established residential community. Founded in 1940, the school hired Hord Coplan Macht to help them better align their facilities with their mission and curriculum. Citing strong divisional identity, and an adherence to their “Four Pillars” – Academics, Arts, Athletics and Spirituality – the school desired to create appropriate spaces for educating the whole child.
Through a series of multi-day, on-site meetings and workshops, the team developed a variety of options that addressed the facility issues – aging infrastructure, outdated spaces, and limited resources. With a careful eye on the school’s ability to take on capital work in manageable segments, the plan was developed to meet the various phasing and logistical issues, while also focusing on the ultimate updated campus arrangement. How to better use existing open space, and how to respect beloved buildings and outdoors areas, and ultimately how to create a new sense of “place” all influenced the final option.
