Project Description
The project deals with the extension, total renovation and energy upgrade of Kondylis Fitness Center in Limassol. Morphologically, we chose to use “neat” lines and the “cold” gray color which imparts a seriousness and combined with wood, as earthy and warmer material, gives the final and necessary balance to the whole. The above two materials accompanied by the metal louvers, give a more technological and contemporary touch to the building. The louvers however have a dual role as they are actively involved in the sun protection of the building which is stressed considerably, especially during the summer months. Along with the sun protection methods, other measures were applied such as the replacement of the windows, the external thermal – facade, the energy upgrade of the air conditioning systems and the application of solar thermal system, thus improving the energy performance of the building putting it in category B+.
