Project Description
Nantucket Summer House was designed to reflect the islands historic architecture while adding a playful twist with interior and exterior details to achieve an easy living summer home. The allowable ground cover of 1400 square feet for the main house set our design parameters. In order to create a spacious plan, we designed common spaces to be open and functional so that hallways and room connectors became dressing rooms, mudrooms and lounges. Interior finish materials ranged from sustainably harvested white oak, reclaimed beams and the re-use of materials from the old garage doors to create a pocket door in the kitchen, reflecting the past. We would love to receive an award, as we believe our design is not contrived, it’s clean and refreshing, while incorporating the requirements of todays needs for modern living.
