Jeffery Potter, FAIA, the vice president of Dallas-based Potter Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Planning, has succeeded Clark D. Manus, FAIA, as the president of the American Institute of Architecture. The inauguration took place on Dec. 9 at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. As the 88th president of the organization, Potter represents more than 76,000 AIA members.
Potter’s first involvement with the AIA came in 1998, when he was named president of the AIA Northeast Texas Chapter. A former president of the Texas Society of Architects, he is a longtime contributor to Texas Architect magazine. In 2008, he served as the chair of the AIA/ACSA Topaz Medallion for Excellence in Architectural Education Jury.
Both Potter and his wife, Shelly, a landscape architect, received their master’s of architecture degrees from the College of Architecture at Texas A&M University. In 2009, they became the first couple in which both were named Outstanding Alumni of the College of Architecture.
