Project Description
Located in Haikou, China that is under construction, currently built to the 18th floor- scheduled to open in September of 2015. HKS Hill Glazier Studio was awarded this project as a result of a design competition, and it is a 20 story building with two levels of below grade parking, 78,000 M2 in size, and a 305 key hotel with 143 residential flats on top. The project is located on a very dramatic harbor front site, with commanding views of downtown Haikou and the Century Bridge, with 270 degree views of the harbor and the South China Sea.
The powerful dynamic form was inspired by the movement of feeding koi. In addition, the architecture is detailed to reflect a nautical theme of luxury yachts and many other nautical influences.
