The Avenue

El Dorado builds a new alley for the convention floor.

1 MIN READ

Attendees to the 2011 AIA Convention will notice a new circulation corridor running the length of the expo floor: The Avenue. Designed by Kansas City, Mo.-based firm El Dorado, the 1,000-foot-long pathway not only serves as a circulation corridor, but also features a café, bookstore, innovation gallery, internet lounge, and other gathering spaces. Overhead aisle signage, bookshelves, and display cases are made from plywood and other materials that will be donated to Tulane University URBANbuild program at the end of that show. There, the materials will be used to build prototypical New Orleans homes design and constructed by students in partnership with Make It Right, the Neighborhood Housing Services of New Orleans, and other associations.
