Once consigned primarily to tack boards and wine stoppers, cork has made large strides in building products and is now used in everything from flooring and wall finishes to furniture. The renewable, natural, and durable product can be harvested every nine years without damage to the cork oak tree. The Lagarta stool by Corque is a modular seating system made from expanded agglomerate cork—a composite material containing large granules of virgin cork, timber, and cork byproducts—and finished in a water-based varnish.
