Architects including Brian MacKay-Lyons, Bjarke Ingels, and the late Eero Saarinen are the focus in a new film series presented by the Noguchi Museum in Long Island City, N.Y. MacKay-Lyons’ annual design/build architecture program, Saarinen’s Gateway Arch in St. Louis, MoMA PS1’s Young Architects Program, and how the sport of Parkour is changing urban space and building design are just a few of the topics covered by the various movies. The series coincides with the museum’s First Fridays events that take place throughout the year on the first Friday of the month. In addition to the films, which will begin at 7 p.m., the museum will extend gallery hours and offer pay-what-you-wish admission, a cash bar, and other educational and public programs such as Summer Nights in the Garden and Center of Attention, which is a conversation about one particular piece in the museum.
The film series is presented in collaboration with the Tribeca Architecture and Design Film Festival, being held Oct. 18-21, 2012.
