Our four stalwart jurors vetted more than 400 custom houses, kitchens, baths, accessory buildings, outdoor spaces, details, and on the boards projects to select just 29 winners for this year’s competition. As usual, our expert jury included two architects—Michael Imber of Austin, Texas–based Michael G. Imber Architects, and Sarah Nettleton of Minneapolis-based Sarah Nettleton Architects—along with two custom builders—Jake Talbot of Little Compton, R.I.–based Jacob Talbot Fine Homebuilders, and John Brink of John Brink Construction in Tahoe City, Calif. In all, they anointed one Custom Home of the Year award, seven Grand awards, and 21 Merit awards.
