Bentley Systems announced this year’s winners of the Bentley Student Design Competition, awarding scholarships to five students from the high school and college levels to continue to pursue disciplines necessary to a future career in infrastructure design.
The 2012 winning project designs included an eco-friendly elementary school, an animation of Leonardo da Vinci’s device for grinding concave mirrors, a redesign of a Polish interchange to alleviate traffic congestion, an energy-efficient airport, and a 3D geospatial database for underground pipelines that reduced the limitations of 2D visualizations.
Bentley, an infrastructure software company, also named Guenter Maresch its 2012 educator of the year. Maresch is a professor at the University of Salzburg in Austria where he teaches geometry using professional CAD systems.
