The MacDowell Colony announced the recipients of its 2019 fall fellowship, naming 79 artists from 19 states and 6 countries. The incoming fellows were selected from a pool of 676 applicants representing the seven artistic disciplines of architecture, composing, filmmaking, interdisciplinary art, theater, visual art, poetry, nonfiction writing, and fiction writing. With the fellowship valued at more than $10,000, each fellow will spend up to eight weeks at the MacDowell Colony in Peterborough, N.H., working and engaging with artists from other disciplines.
The MacDowell Colony recognized five architects as fellows. They are: Charlotte Algie, Assoc. AIA, part-time faculty at the Syracuse University School of Architecture in Syracuse, N.Y., and director of New York–based practice NNNY; Cecil Howell creator of the New York–based Object + Field collaborative; Ryan Ludwig an assistant professor at the School of Architecture and Interior Design at the University of Cincinnati; Gregory Melitonov, founding principle of ARCHITECT Next Progressive firm, New York– and Guatemala City–based firm Taller KEN; and Mark Shepard, an associate professor at the University of Buffalo School of Architecture and Planning in Buffalo, N.Y.
